Here one can see the intriguing activities around a palaeontology dig right here on the West Coast. One can see the fossils of ancient bears, sabre-toothed cats, short necked giraffes and a few other animals which were common in this area around 5 million years ago. Definitely an interesting visit + insight into an ancient world.
2. Head to Velddrif and walk the Famous Bokkom Laan
Bokkom Laan (Bokkom lane) is the home of the traditional Dried & Salted Mullet (Fish) activity, and bunches of fish, strung up to dry can be seen all along the lane. This rare delicacy (Fish Biltong) is unique to this area of the West Coast and every visitor is encouraged to sample a piece. All along this really cool avenue one can find restaurants, Art & Craft outlets and a few National Monuments. Tollies River & Boat Cruises in Velddrif offers exceptionally good bird watching and Sunset Cruises on the Berg River from Velddrif on the West Coast.
